Also known as crown reduction, this procedure is carried out to reduce the height, width and general spread of the foliage canopy. This is achieved by reducing individual branches/limbs back to secondary points of live growth maintaining the trees shape where possible. Read more about canopy reduction.
Crown thinning is the removal of small diameter branches (including dead, dying and crossing branches). This method does not alter the overall size or shape of the tree, it is simply performed to lesson the trees foliage density. This procedure is effective for increasing light penetration and to reduce damage that could result from crown resistance against strong winds. Read more about crown thinning.
Crown lifting is the selective removal of the lower branches of a trees crown to increase the distance between the base of the canopy and ground level. This method is effective for increasing light transmission to areas closer to the tree or to enable access under the crown. Read more about crown lifting.
If a tree is diseased, dangerous or has simply outgrown its position, this can result in a complete removal. If space allows we will fell your tree into a suitable designated area from the ground using precise directional felling techniques. However if your tree requires to be taken down in sections this can be achieved by the careful lowering of branches and timber using appropriate lowering techniques. Read more about tree removal.
Thames Valley Tree Care covers all aspects of hedge maintenance from simple trimming, to restoring “out of control” Leylandii. If a hedge is to be completely removed, we offer a re-planting service and advice on suitable specimens. Read more about hedge management.
We can remove tree stumps of all different sizes using our specialised machinery. Our machines are able to access small and difficult spaces causing minimum disruption and without damaging your lawn or garden. Where stump removal is not a viable option we can treat the stump with an appropriate herbicide to prevent re-growth. Read more about tree stump removal.
